Take The Walk
The initial launch of the Take The Walk campaign began with one mile barefoot walks staged across the US and Canada to help inspire individuals to make an impact through simple actions. Thousands of individuals participated in these walks, lead by the band HANSON in partnership with TOMS Shoes, providing thousands of shoes to impoverished children in South Africa.
New Medio designed and developed the new platform to accomodate HANSON's broader goals. In addition to providing shoes to children in need HANSON put the action into the hands of their fans and the general public. Anyone moved to take it upon themselves to host their own walk were given the tools and opportunity through the enhanced functionality of takethewalk.net by committing and organizing their own events. Individuals could now choose to have their miles walked and purchases go toward not only shoes, but for medical care and treatment, drilling water wells and building schools.
